Employee Portrait Gallery — Emerson Hiller
Emerson Hiller wields a Ping-Pong paddle in the Knorr library during Voyage 73 in 1979—his “sink, lampshade, and dictionary” shots were legendary. He was also a mean Scrabble and bridge player, an avid ham radio operator, and a skilled carpenter. He browsed lumberyards for exotic woods during port calls and built furniture, sailboats, jewelry boxes and other items in the ship’s woodworking shop as gifts for friends and relatives.
