Employee Portrait Gallery — Dudley Foster
Left: On a 1988 hydrothermal vent cruise, the University of Washington scientific party created a “Dudley Unit,” a life-size (5’8”) plywood cutout dressed in an Atlantis/Alvin T-shirt and a pair of Dudley’s jeans to serve as a seafloor marker and to give a sense of scale for photos taken on the Juan de Fuca Ridge off the Washington coast.
